Details : Our Certificated Location is in the countryside approximately three miles west of the beautiful Cathedral City of Durham (a world heritage site), three quarters of a mile from the village of Witton Gilbert (local newsagent and excellent pub grub) and approximately two miles from the Durham City park and ride facility (specific parking area for motor homes).
We believe we are the closest of the County Durham CLs to the amazing Beamish Living Museum of the North (25% discount on production of your CC membership card); also close by are the beautiful Durham Dales and Hadrian's Wall and many other family attractions. If shopping interests you we are within easy reach of the Metro Centre, Europe's biggest shopping centre and Newcastle upon Tyne (it's possible to catch a bus to both places from the village).
Our site is slightly sloping with a good entrance and has water and disposal points. We are part hard standing and have recently installed electric hook-ups at each of our five pitches. We are more than happy to charge batteries and we also have fresh eggs for sale (when the hens are laying well). Well behaved dogs are welcome as there are many country walks from the site. The best aspect of the site is the spectacular views over open countryside - if you're an early riser you may see deer come out of the nearby woods in the early morning or hear the plaintive cry of the curlew as it approaches its nest.

Facilities : Electric hook up, Grass and Hardstanding pitches, Caravans and Motorhomes welcome, Views, Easy Access, Battery charging, Dogs allowed.

Open : All year

Pitch Fee : from £12 with EHU

Fantastic

Excellent CL with fantastic views, ease access and many interesting places to visit. Sloping pitches but no problem to get sited. Stayed for 10 days from 12th May 2017.

Lovely CL

Very warm welcome,we were even given some fresh eggs to have with our next breakfast,a lovely touch. Very sloping but it didn't bother us,blocks and bricks were handy to make leveling a lot easier. Wow! the views were amazing, you could sit and watch the wildlife or the owners horses in the next field.Lovely and quiet apart from the odd car passing the site. We used the Park and Ride to get into Durham, this being a short drive from the campsite. We had a great time in the area and would come back to this site again.

Lovely site, friendly owners

We stayed here for 5 nights. The sloping did not put us off even thought the caravan looked a bit wonky! Plenty of blocks available for levelling. We were also greeted by the owners who gave us some eggs for breakfast. We found them friendly but unobtrusive. Site is well placed for seeing sights of County Durham and we were out every day seeing different places. The road is fairly quiet although some cars do go at quite a lick, which our little dog found a bit intimidating, and it is hard to walk a dog without using at least a part of the road. We would definitely go back.

Great CL and very friendly owners.

Just spent 10 nights at this CL and what an enjoyable time we had, We arrived and Mrs Gallimore met us, showed us to the site and as it was empty said we could pitch where we wanted, gave us a information leaflet and the usual 6 eggs(very tasty ) and informed us regarding fresh water, grey water etc and said if we needed anything just knock on the farmhouse door. day after Mr Gallimore came across and asked if all OK . The views from the site are excellent and all is as everyone has already said, great site and will return.

Lovely CL and lovely owners

On arrival we were welcomed by the owners who gave us an information leaflet for the surrounding areas, shop, pub, drs, etc. Just off the road but minimum traffic. Slightly sloping gravel pitches with EHU. Fresh water supply although hose needed for motorhome. CDP, recycling facility. Lovely views and peace and quiet. There are free range chickens in fenced area belonging to the owners who kindly gave 2 fresh eggs for our breakfast. Lots of attractions within easy distance. We only stayed 1 night but we will be back.
